Question: Define Nosocomial Infection and how to prevent it?
Answer: It is a Hospital-Acquired Infection (HAI) that patients get during their stay.
Prevention: Strict Hand Hygiene, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), following Aseptic techniques, and proper sterilization of medical instruments.

Question: How do you manage a patient on a Mechanical Ventilator?
Answer: * Assess Lung Sounds and Oxygen Saturation (SpO2).
Perform regular Endotracheal Suctioning.

Question: What is the use of Infusion Pumps in the ICU?
Answer: Infusion pumps are used to deliver fluids, nutrients, or medications (like Inotropes: Norad, Dopamine) into a patient’s body in controlled amounts and at a specific rate.


Question: What do you mean by Code Blue?
Answer: Code Blue is an emergency code used to indicate a patient is in Cardiopulmonary Arrest or experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency requiring immediate resuscitation (CPR).

Question: How do you handle a Patient Fall incident?
Answer: 1. Assess the patient for any injuries immediately.

Notify the physician and the nursing supervisor.

Document the incident in the Incident Report form.

Implement safety measures to prevent future falls.


Question: How do you deal with a difficult or non-compliant patient?

Advanced ICU & Cardiac Questions
Question: What is ACLS, and can you explain the steps of CPR?
Answer: ACLS stands for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.

Start high-quality chest compressions (at least 2 inches deep, rate of 100-120 bpm).

Maintain airway and provide ventilations (30:2 ratio).

Question: What are the most common Life-Saving Drugs used in the ICU?

Answer: The primary indicator of an Acute MI is ST-segment elevation (STEMI) in two or more contiguous leads. Other signs include T-wave inversion or the presence of pathological Q-waves.

Question: What are the signs of Hyperkalemia and why is it dangerous?
Answer: Hyperkalemia is high potassium levels (>5.5 mEq/L). It is dangerous because it can cause Cardiac Arrhythmias or Cardiac Arrest.
Signs: Tall peaked T-waves on ECG, muscle weakness, and numbness.


Question: What is the difference between Isotonic, Hypotonic, and Hypertonic solutions?
Answer: * Isotonic (e.g., 0.9% NS, RL): Same concentration as blood; used for volume expansion.
Hypotonic (e.g., 0.45% NS): Lower concentration; shifts fluid into the cells.
Hypertonic (e.g., 3% NaCl, D5NS): Higher concentration; draws fluid out of the cells into the vascular space.

Question: What is Triage, and how do you prioritize patients in the Emergency Room?
Answer: Triage is the process of sorting patients based on the severity of their condition.

Legal & Professional Responsibilities


Question: What is Informed Consent and what is the nurse’s role?
Answer: Informed consent is the process where a patient voluntarily agrees to a procedure after understanding the risks and benefits.
Nurse’s Role: To witness the patient’s signature and ensure the patient is competent to sign. The doctor is responsible for explaining the procedure.


Question: What would you do if you notice a Doctor’s Order that seems incorrect or dangerous?


Answer: I would not administer the medication/treatment. I would immediately clarify the order with the prescribing doctor. Patient safety is my legal and ethical responsibility.

जब आप ICU या इमरजेंसी के लिए इंटरव्यू देते हैं, तो वहां केवल आपकी डिग्री नहीं, बल्कि आपका ‘Presence of Mind’ देखा जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए, जब मुझसे पूछा गया कि ‘मरीज का ऑक्सीजन लेवल अचानक गिर जाए तो आप क्या करेंगे?’, तो मैंने किताबी जवाब देने के बजाय अपने प्रैक्टिकल अनुभव से बताया कि ‘सबसे पहले एयरवे चेक करूँगा और तुरंत अम्बू बैग (Ambu bag) से वेंटिलेट करूँगा।’

Dress Like a Professional:

आपका पहनावा और बात करने का तरीका (Communication) आधा इंटरव्यू वहीं जीत लेता है।


Be Practical: जब भी जवाब दें, तो उसमें अपने हॉस्पिटल के किसी रियल केस का जिक्र जरूर करें। इससे इंटरव्यू लेने वाले को पता चलता है कि आपने सच में काम किया है।
